Boredom: detrimental to health?
Boredom is not only a state that annoys everyone. Few things are as desperate as the feeling of having nothing to do and we were not any ideas to occupy our time.
Besides, now it seems that boredom does no good to our health. According to British researchers, people who are bored often have more risk of dying young from heart problems.
In reality, there is simply too bored to what harms us. It must be seen as a symptom of what could be a harmful behavior linked to psychological problems, tobacco smoking, and alcohol and drug addiction.
The research, conducted by specialists at University College London, was a series of questionnaires was performed at 7000 British civil servants between 33 and 55 years (men and women) during 1985 to 1988. The aim was to specify how often per month they were bored.
Although not entirely a scientific study “rigorous”, the results indicated that people who entered the state of boredom more often had higher levels of death from heart disease in subsequent years. The women were disadvantaged, those who said they are more bored.
With these findings, it is intended to promote reflection and open new research to delve further into the matter.
